The HUGEST, CRAZIEST, and most AMAZING House You’ve Ever Seen!!! September 28, 2008

Ok, so on Friday my friend texted me and said: “my friend is helping out at this fundraiser gala (gala means like a big dinner party where rich people come and bid on things and buy stuff from silent auctions and they raise money for a cause) and they need waitress type people to help out with serving. you interested?” Now I didn’t know who was hosting the party or anything, but I went to my friend’s freind’s house and met my freind’s friends lol and then we headed over to the big house they were having the Gala at.  The house was on the side of a mountain, so we had to drive up a lot of twisty turny roads.  When we got there, we parked and we walked up the long driveway to the house. HUGE! Whoa! it was very modern looking. With cool curves everywhere and stuff.  Anyway, we met up with the 4 other girls who were going to help the 5 of us. 9 total and then one 9 year old who wanted to help.  We helped the caterers get the hors orduerves ready, and then when the guests arrived, we got separated into groups of two (me with the 9 year old of course, not any of my freinds 😛 ) and we went around with macaroni and cheese filled truffles and gave them to rich snobby people.  9 year old girl gave them napkins.  Some of the other groups had shrimp and others had sausage.  The platter was heavy!! It was full of truffles and it was a very thick metal.  Once we ran out, we went back to the kitchen and guess what? I got another, bigger, heavier platter. GREAT.  After those were gone, we went around with trays and picked up trash.  People would leave their empty cups, bottles, appetizer plates, napkins, and glasses on random surfaces.  we would walk around and put it all on the tray, give the glasses to the kitchen, and throw away everything else.  I got so tired of walking!! I had to do this from 6:00-11:30!! I got breaks so I could eat dinner and stuff but we were working for a while!  And then when the party was winding down and everyone was in one room for the auction, we weren’t done.  We had to carry a ton of platters and leftover food to the catering van and we had to go around and get all the recycling bins from the bars and carry the huge heavy things to the garage. YEESH!  We did a few more chore type things and then it was finally over.

I have a few pics of the awesome house…

this is a map i made to help you understand my pics

my pics aren’t working, they are just showing up as red Xs so I will add them later. I promise! I got them working! Check it out!

toodles!

The Tao of Pooh September 19, 2008

Easily my most interesting class is my world history class.  Today we learned about Taoism (also known as Daoism).  Now I don’t feel up to completely explaining Taoism but it was created in ancient China by a guy named Laozi.  He came a bit before Confucius.  Anyway, Taoism is described as “being an uncarved block”, like being as simple as you can be.  You’re only goal being happiness.  Just walking around doing nothing and being happy.  Basically: life is sweet and simple.

One day, a guy who studied Taoism made a remarkable discovery.  He went to a debate that was debating wether the western world understoof Taoism (or something of that sort) but he went and read his part of the book to the opposing side.  The O.S. (opposing side) said: thats not Taoism.  That sounds like a childrens book.  It sounds like Winnie the Pooh.  The man said: It is Winnie the Pooh, and Winnie the Pooh is the perfect example of a Taoist.

Pooh’s only goal is habing a full tummy and being happy.  Therefore he has his own wisdom.

  • “Rabbit’s clever,” said Pooh thoughtfully.
  • “Yes,”said Piglet, “Rabit’s clever.”
  • “And he has Brain.”
  • “Yes,” said Piglet, “Rabbit has Brain.”
  • There was a long silence.
  • “I suppose,” said Pooh, “that that’s why he never understands anything.”

  • Pooh, Piglet, and Rabbit were lost in the woods. Every time they tried to find their way home they went around in circles and ended up back at the sand pit.
  • “How would it be,” said Pooh slowly, “if as soon as we’re out of sight of this pit, we try to find it again?”
  • “What’s the good of that?” said Rabbit.
  • “Well, said Pooh, we keep looking for Home and not finding it, so I thought that if we looked for this Pit, we’d be sure not to find it, which would be a good thing, because then we might find something we weren’t looking for, which might be just what we were looking for, really.”
  • (I haven’t got the complete quote but it finishes something like this…) Rabbit stated that that was ridiculus and decided to prove Pooh wrong.  He marched out into the woods untill he couldn’t see the pit anymore, then tried to go back. After 20 minutes, Pooh says something like “He must be home”

Pretty cool, huh?

Blarg is a noise of disgust that I made up, by the way.  Anywhoo I had two tests today. One in Algebra 2 and one in Biology. I think i did pretty good.  I also had a speaking test in Spanish.  I had to talk to a partner for 10 minutes in front of the class about a camping trip.  It was torture! I get so nervous during those things!

Well I got to finish my hw before I go to my church group tonight. Tonights the first one of the school year! Its gonna be a partay!

Oh, and to answer Josh’s question, WonderBread is my little sister. ew. her site is http://wonderbread.wordpress.com if you wanna visit it.  It kinda sucks (and thats being kind). I made her header, set her theme and widgets up, and made her “first post” post. lol

P.S. My CSS will get better. I really don’t have a clue what I’m doing and I don’t have a lot of time but it’ll get better 🙂

P.S. Have a moment of silence and think about all the lives lost and all the children who have no mom or dad because of this.

CSS UNDER CONTRUCTION…NO MORE! September 7, 2008

CSS MAY LOOK WEIRD FOR A FEW HOURS. BE PATIENT IT IS UNDER GOING WORK

UPDATE: GAH WHY IS IT NOT WORKING!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!

UPDATE: oh there we go but why is it only at the top?

UPDATE: oh yay! im a genius! (actually aguair’s comment earlier helped)

BACKGROUND IS DONE!!! HAHA!!!!!! YAHOO!!!!

After a good 30 minutes of struggling (15 minutes and then i had to clean the houes and mow the lawn and then another 15 minutes!) I did it! First time it was too big (the pictures) and second time it wouldnt work. Ifinally figured out there shouldn’t be a space between ‘url’ and the ‘(‘ third time it worked but there were only two of the pics on the top. fourth time i deleted the ‘-x top’ out of ‘repeat-x top;’ and it worked! it was so hard!

And also it took me a while to make the darn pic! I took all the pics from istockphoto and they all have a big istockphoto logo across the middle that I had to get rid of using paint. i zoomed in and then cut and paste little pieces of the same color over it and also stretched color next to the logo over it. its tedeius work!

woo Im so giddy with happiness! and starving.  well im going to go eat some spaghetti! yum!

question: do you think its a bit to busy? should i make it smaller and more like a pattern? i might lose some of the detail making it smaller though

~Carly

P.S. in the sneak peak pics I didnt use one of them. can you figure out which? 😉

Awkward Awkwardness, Header, and CSS September 5, 2008

So I’ll get the header thing over with…hmmm I made the title and then left to get a snack and now I dont remember what I had to say about the header. hmmm…well I forget anyway do you like it? haha

Well now I’ll do the CSS part of the title. For those of you who dont know, CSS is a thing on wordpress that you can buy for about $15 dollars a month and you can do the deep editing stuff on your theme and text and stuff like these blogs: Adam’s RedCowz’s and Aguair’s

See the sweet backround and stuff? sweeet. im thinking about getting it but have no idea how to work it! I have asked adam and he is too busy, and i have just asked aguair who adam reccomended for me.

ok done with that now on to awkward awkwardness! ok so I have had one boyfriend and i am currently single.  He was nice but he began to get a bit annoying so I just told him that i liked it better when we were just friends and he agreed! it was very clean. this was last year (freshman year of high school).  Last year we met during the musical (i was crew/backstage help and he was a cast member) and we had choir class together. and that was the only time we saw eachother during the school day because we didnt have off periods together either. THIS year, however, his locker is in the same block as mine, we have science, choir, off period, and spanish together! off course during my off period i usually go out with my friends but still!! I know we are broken up and “still friends” its awkward!! gah!!! I hate it!!!! Oh and the worst part of awkwardness was at this choir picnic that the whole choral department goes to to welcome the freshman and we play a game of Red Rover. If you dont know how to play click here. Anyway I didnt break through so I had to join that group. I had to hold hands with the person on the end. Yup you guessed who it was.  Boy was that awkward. Holding hands with him again.  yeah.

Well thats long gone so whatever. Hakuna matata. its the weekend now! Hallelujah and praise God!
